Medical Assistant (MA) at Northside Office                                      

Reports To: Clinical Site Manager

Job Functions:

  1. Assist in examination and treatment of patients and perform miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of the provider and/or team lead and Clinical Site Manager.
  2. Interview patients, measure vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and record information in patients’ charts.
  3. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  4. Drape patients with covering, position instruments and equipment.
  5. Hand instruments and materials to the provider as directed. Anticipate the needs of each provider to facilitate flow and keep the provider moving to ease patient wait times.
  6. Clean and sterilize instruments daily or twice daily, if needed. Date and initial instrument packages for autoclaving.
  7. Medical Assistant Team Lead – assist with inventory of medical supplies and materials and report those directly to the Clinical Site Manager every 2 weeks and PRN.
  8. Perform all Task List duties (i.e., refrigerator temperature log, calling of normal labs, Panorama and Horizon results, update prenatal lab flowsheet and problem list and autoclave monthly maintenance). Stay caught up with FMLA papers, phone and paper refills or any other tasks assigned by the Clinical Manager.
  9. Stock exam rooms, break down boxes and keep patient restroom stocked with toilet tissue, urine cups and magic marker for labeling of specimens.
  10. Fax order forms for diagnostic tests to medical facility(ies) to schedule patients for tests.
  11. Give injections, treatments or draw blood when needed. Perform routine laboratory tests and maintain medication/vaccine/IUD logs with daily count.
  12. Input key data into the computer to maintain office and patient records. Update problem list and prenatal flow sheet when needed.
  13. Travel to another office may be required periodically to cover staffing/training needs. 

The Medical Assistant may have a Medical Assistant certification, basic life-support training (CPR) and medical systems software experience. The Medical Assistant will have the ability to multi-task, possess a strong work ethic and be a team player by willing to anticipate and assist peers when needed.
