Diabetes and Pregnancy
Seven percent of pregnancies are affected by diabetes. Women either have diabetes before pregnancy or they become diabetic during pregnancy. Women with pre-existing diabetes make up 1-2% of all pregnancies. Women with pre-existing diabetes (Type 1 or 2) are closely monitored to make sure their blood sugar levels remain near normal.
